San Franciscans love their brunch, but it's hard to find that one restaurant you can call home. Some times you fall in love with a local brunch spot...and it leaves you for another city like Oakland. Fortunate for me (after many therapy sessions), my favorite brunch spot is BACK!
Back by popular demand, Red Door Cafe is serving up delicious bites at a new location - right off of Bush St. at Franklin. Chef and owner, Ahmed, is the heart and soul of this quaint, vibrant eatery. You know when you build a relationship with your favorite hair stylist, and find yourself going back more than necessary to catch up on the latest gossip? Me neither, but I imagine it's what eating at Red Door is like - and it's straight up addictive.
Not only is the food great, but the vibe screams comfort. Come in and enjoy a Chai tea the size of your head and let the food and company ease your worries. The demand for Ahmed's endless creations like French Toast Josephine and Spank the Gluten (gluten-free options) are on the rise. So come early and preferably in a small group, because this homey cafe can only fit so many. But don't be discouraged, it is well worth the wait!
Must orders: Chai Tea!, French Toast Josephine, Croissant Egg Sandwich, Spicy Thai Chicken Wrap, and the Apple and Brie Panini!
Location: 1608 Bush St. (between Franklin and Gough St) SF, CA 94109
I'm a fan of any place that serves beverages in bowls. Red Door's Chai tea is the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. Delicious to the last drop!
The French toast is absolutely amazing and a MUST ORDER!
Croissant Egg Sandwich (with bacon) will blow your mind!
Healthy alternative to huevos rancheros.
Make your way over to the refrigerator and say hello to Mathew McConaughey to get your name on the waiting list.
Just look for the red door!
