One thing I always look forward to when going home to Miami is starting each morning out with my mom's freshly made carrot juice. It's one of the best things out there. So refreshingly sweet and healthy, it's the perfect start to any morning.
- Bunch of carrots
- 2 small apples
- 1 small orange (peeled)
- Dump all ingredients in a juicer and juice
- Serve over ice
- Drink to your health!
Living out on the west coast so far away from home, I've wanted to recreate this juice, but a juicer was one of those kitchen gadgets I never cared to spend the money on. Glad I didn't because the other day at work I won a juicer - a really nice and expensive juicer. Jack pot!
I couln't wait to give this baby a test run and of course, my first juice would be carrot...carrot a la Lulu (my mom's nickname)!
I should add that this juicer is no joke! Valued at about $130, I wasn't sure what to expect when it arrived. It came in a big box and was not light by any means. When I opened it up I was excited to see it had few parts and was dishwasher safe (phew!).
What I didn't expect was the plane engine of a motor this thing had. I turned the switch and a wind tunnel began shooting through the pipe. I quickly imagined all the things I could juice with this sucker: bone marrow, wood, cement block...
But for now we're keeping it basic: carrots, apples and oranges.
A whole lot of healthy goodness in this measuring cup!
