I have a love-hate relationship with Zazie. While I love their eggs benedict and cozy garden patio, I hate that they're ridiculously popular. Because it's impossible to go there for brunch on a weekend without a long wait, I love sneaking away on a weekday to enjoy all that is this beautiful French bistro!
Homey Kitchen
Just as a good bistro should be, Zazie is located in the heart of a big city neighborhood, in this case Cole Valley, and is always buzzing with energy. A cozy interior and friendly wait staff helps you feel like you're in a rustic French kitchen.
Garden Patio
My favorite part is their outdoor patio, which is perfect on a sunny San Francisco afternoon. One step outside and you'll realize it's not just the food that makes Zazie such a popular weekend brunch spot.
I first discovered Zazie when attempting to conquer the 7x7 100 Things to Try Before You Die SF list. It was noted for having a must-have eggs benedict. Looking at the menu on my first visit, I realized there are about a dozen variations on the classic eggs benedict. The list does not specify one in particular and now I know why...because they're ALL delicious.
When in doubt order the special of the day or take your waiter's recommendation. I personally love the "La Mer Poached Eggs" served with fresh hand-picked dungeness crab, green onions, and avocados. SO GOOD!
Note: The restaurant gives you the option of ordering one, two or three eggs. A perfect way to sample a couple different things on the menu!
One thing I loved ordering when visiting Paris was the classic salade nicoise. Zazie's version is delicious, but I'm sad to report, not spectacular. The dressing was bland and the tuna a bit dry. All the ingredients were fresh and beautiful, but I'd recommend you stick with the amazing eggs benny!
French Toast Tahiti
What's not to love about French toast? Especially when it's Pinkie's challa stuffed with caramalized bananas, walnuts and drowned in a rich maple syrup! Hmmmm. This is the perfect sweet pairing for Zazie's poached egg options.

All in all, Zazie is a great spot for a fun, delicious brunch. If you can make it during the week, even better. Enjoy the seasonally updated menu and comforting ambiance for a memorable European experience in beautiful San Francisco.
